CONGRATULATIONS ETHAN AND JUSTIN!
Mad props to our Unlimited young men. Ethan Sutton took first team regional honors for scholastic achievement and Justin Sartin Scott made the second team! We are so proud of both of you and more importantly, you should be proud of yourselves. Way to represent the black and yellow, and our first year to boot!
Ethan and Justin are our All-Americans, earning a GPA of 96% or better for Ethan and Justin, 90-95%. Criteria for this award is based on both community involvement and academic achievements.
These young men will be honored during the regional awards March 9th at the Red Lion Quay in Vancouver. The following week the two will be recognized nationally in Reno! We are elated to have two stellar youth as the face of your Portland Steelers.
Please join us from 6-8pm at the Red Lion Inn at the Quay in downtown Vancouver. Saturday, March 9, 2013. Entry is free. This is a dessert banquet, so feed the kids first. Please dress nice casual. We want to represent! Hoping to see our nation and community there in support of our academic all-stars!
GOODBYE 2012
Your Portland Steelers gathered together for the last time as they said goodbye to the 2012 season. It all began like every game. All of us working together to make it happen, something we have done all year.
Looking around the room all three divisions were intertwined. There was no division. And that was what this season was all about—being a part of a team. Wins, losses, final records—in time, forgotten. It is the friendships that we made along the way that we will leave the field with. The countless hours of work, time and energy to make it all happen? One glance at the smiles on all of our athletes faces throughout the celebration... That said it all.
This was our first year; and a bit crazy along the way. Which is how all families are—a bit dysfunctional. But at the same time the ones who always got your back. We made it through. Black and yellow together. Steelers forever.
Cheers to 2012! Some of us will never see each other again, some just a long time. Here is hoping that all of us took from the season the friendships we made and the promise of new beginnings. Thanks to all the families, athletes and cheer who came together to make this nation happen. Together we were united. Together we are strong. Look out 2013!
!!!!PROUD TO BE A STEELER!!!!
Your 2012 Portland Steelers (well, not all of us!) at the Les Schwab Carwash, September 2012
Please Join Us in congratulating our very own DeJuan Chesterfield
with the Trail Blazers, Northwest Ford Stores Honor of Coach of the Year for 2012
The Portland Trail Blazers and Northwest Ford Stores have announced the 2012 “Ford Coaches of the Year”, recognizing four local individuals for their outstanding leadership in the community. Nominations were submitted from across the state and included teachers, counselors, coaches, mentors and anyone making a difference in the lives of Oregon and southwest Washington’s youth. The winners will each be awarded $2,500 toward an organization of their choice and will also be recognized by the Trail Blazers and Northwest Ford Stores during a special ceremony in his or her hometown. In addition, each winner will be honored in-arena on April 9 when the Trail Blazers take on the Houston Rockets. Northwest Ford Stores generously donated the award money in hopes of assisting with the depletion of activity funds faced by schools and organizations statewide, allowing the company a unique opportunity to give back to the community.
